About the Baroness

Baroness Miriel du Lac

I have participated in the SCA for a little over 5 years. I had attended some events prior to that but never got the bug. My first real event was Hallowtide in Blackwater, where I helped Magnus strap on some armor and hockey pads so he could qualify in heavy fighting. After that Magnus and I checked out some other events, practices, and baronial meetings and finally in Dec 2011 we attended the Baronial Investiture of Carolus and Isolda, helping our barony for the first time at the gold key table. I was hooked! I dabbled as the deputy Chronicler, but found my true niche as Pursuivant stepping up as baronial Pursuivant in late 2012. The next few years were a outstanding adventure of traveling all over our kingdom and a few others to events, retaining, heralding, and just experiencing our hobby in so many ways possible. I am so excited to take the next step of this adventure as the Baroness of the Rhydderich Hael and can’t wait to see what the next few years will offer.

Interests:

I have a 14th Century French persona. I enjoy Fencing, Archery, and sewing.

Whims:

I prefer water for drinking; however I do enjoy hot tea for cold days. I enjoy most foods but am not a huge fan of seafood.

Family:

My husband is Meuric ap Gwillim, a 12th Century Benidictine Monk. He loves all forms of learning, but cooking, food, and history are his favorite studies. His support as Magnus and I continue our journey as Baron and Baroness, is what keeps me going.

I have a daughter Wentliana verch Meuric (Mina) who is 9 years old, she enjoys cooking, reading, and is just starting fencing. She has a generic Viking Persona at the moment. She loves to help in the kitchen, with any service she is able, and as a scroll case runner during court.
